A whole site, built by an agent.

Claude Code and Codex work inside a folder on your computer. They create the pages, check them, and fix their own mistakes. You talk to them in the terminal.

Which computer are you on?

You need

• Claude Code: your UT Claude account (or any paid Claude plan).
• or Codex: ChatGPT Plus or higher. The free plan doesn’t include it.
• A free Cloudflare account: dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up.

1. Fill in the prompt.

The whole-site version of the class mad libs: a home page, three project pages, an about page, and a 404 that stays in character.

2. Open a terminal and make a folder.

1. Press ⌘ Cmd Space, type Terminal, press Return.

2. Right-click the Start button and choose Terminal (or Windows PowerShell). The line should start with PS.

3. Paste this and press Return. It makes a my-site folder on your Desktop and moves into it.

Now pick one agent: Claude Code or Codex.

3a. Claude Code.

Install (one time)

When it says it’s installed, close the terminal, open a new one, and go back into your folder (cd ~/Desktop/my-sitecd ([Environment]::GetFolderPath('Desktop')); cd my-site).

Start it and sign in

1. Pick a color theme with the arrow keys, press Return.

2. Select login method → 1. Claude account with subscription. Your browser opens; sign in with your UT account (yourEID@eid.utexas.edu). No browser? Press c to copy the link.

3. Press Return through the security note. At “Is this a project you created or one you trust?” choose Yes, I trust this folder.

Build

1. Paste the prompt. It shows as [Pasted text #1 +20 lines]; that’s normal. Press Return.

2. It works for several minutes. It mostly runs on its own (auto mode). If it asks “Do you want to proceed?”, press Return for Yes.

3. Ask for changes the same way: “make the about page shorter.” Esc interrupts it; /exit quits.

UT account won’t sign in here? The same Claude Code is in the Claude desktop app’s Code tab and at claude.ai/code, no terminal needed.

3b. Codex.

Install (one time)

Then close the terminal, open a new one, and go back into your folder.

Start it and sign in

1. 1. Sign in with ChatGPT is already selected. Press Return and sign in in the browser.

2. “Do you trust the contents of this directory?” → 1. Yes, continue.

Build

1. Paste the prompt and press Return.

2. When it asks “Would you like to make the following edits?” or “…run the following command?”, choose Yes, proceed.

3. Ask for changes in plain words. /exit quits.

4. Preview it.

Open the my-site folder on your Desktop and double-click index.html. Click through every page.

5. Put it on Cloudflare.

Drag and drop

1. dash.cloudflare.com → Compute → Workers & Pages → Create application → Upload your static files.

2. Name it (lowercase, dashes), drag in the whole my-site folder (a multi-page site needs all its files), and click Deploy.

3. Click the .workers.dev address it gives you. You’re live.

Or let the agent deploy it

Needs Node.js installed (nodejs.org). Tell the agent:

Deploy this folder to Cloudflare Workers as static assets with Wrangler. Log me in with npx wrangler login first if needed, then give me the live URL.

A browser page asks you to allow Wrangler into your Cloudflare account; approve it. No keys to copy. To ship changes later, ask it to deploy again.

6. Use your own domain.

Buy one

1. Find a name at domainr.com. Your name if you can get it; a .com if you can.

2. In Cloudflare, open Register domains (under Domain Registration). Search, Purchase, fill in your details, Complete purchase. About $10–30 a year.

3. First-time buyers get a verification email. Click it within 15 days.

Point it at your site

1. Compute → Workers & Pages → your site → Settings → Domains & Routes → Add → Custom domain.

2. Type the domain and click Add Custom Domain. Cloudflare sets up the DNS and certificate. Give it a few minutes.

3. Add www. the same way if you want both.

Deployed with the agent? You can also just ask it: “Attach my domain yourname.com to this site.”
